Global warming
is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century, and its projected continuation.
Greenhouse gases
re gaseous constituents of the atmosphere, both natural and anthropogenic, that absorb and emit radiation at specific wavelengths within the spectrum of thermal infrared radiation emitted by the Earth’s surface, the atmosphere itself, and by clouds. This property causes the greenhouse effect.[1] Greenhouse gases are essential to maintaining the temperature of the Earth; without them the planet would be so cold as to be uninhabitable.[2][3] Natural sources are the Earth's ecosystem, and anthropogenic sources include industrial, transportation, residential, commercial and agricultural processes. [4] Venus, Mars and Titan also have atmospheric gases that cause greenhouse effects.
